My name is Nahom Beyene, and I would like to share a perspective on the Lucy's Legacy Exhibit. The only purpose of this web site is to explain why any Ethiopian would have reservations about Lucy being the star of a major exhibit. While the exhibit provides a bright spotlight on Ethiopia, there are certain issues that have shaken the trust of the Ethiopian community.
I will share what I have experienced during my term of office as the secretary of the Ethiopian Community Organization in Houston (ECOH). The information presented here relates to the Lucy's Legacy Exhibit at the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS).

Again, I want to clarify that this is my attempt to shed light on why Ethiopians in America are not being seen as major supporters and contributors to this exhibit. To protect against negative sentiments and unhealthy speculation, I hope that this provides all with the information to make their own personal decision. Consider your own view of what is right and wrong, then also consider what you would expect out of this exhibit if the item on center display was a national (world) treasure from your country on display in another country.
I believe this is enough to make things more clear...
